Publisher Activision has already described Bungie's Destiny as a franchise but the Washington based developer says they have to earn that right first.
Speaking to Trusted Reviews, community manager David Dague commented that Bungie needs "to earn the right to put a number on the box."
Dague argued that it's important not to take anything for granted:
"We have to do our jobs to build a big, beautiful world that people do truly want to explore further. We have to capture their imaginations with a story that has them asking more questions as they get to the end of this first game."
However, he admitted that Bungie's 10 year vision for the developer could be daunting for some players:
"This is kind of our first date – take a step into this world and play this game. If we told someone 'we're going to be together for 10 years', then we are the overly attached developer."
The game's beta is available now on PlayStation platforms and will be rolled out to Xbox systems on July 23rd, it ends on July 27th. If you're experiencing problems with the beta, we might have the solution you need here.
Destiny launches on September 9th for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
