WWE 2K15: Universe Mode Returning, With RVD, Steve Austin, HHH, The Rock, And Taker

July 17, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

HHH promises Sting will be able to tangle with every major wrestling superstar in WWE ever. Does that include Trish Stratus?

We have a host of new confirmed wrestlers, as well as one game mode, for WWE 2K15.

“@_xxWWEFANxx_: @TherealRVD are u in #WWE2K15 ?” Yep

— Rob Van Dam (@TherealRVD) July 16, 2014

First off, Mr. PPV, Mr. Monday Night, The Whole F’N Show, Rob Van Dam, has confirmed himself as returning to the roster of the game. He just straight up confirmed it on Twitter. Fans were shocked that RVD was in the game last year, seeing that he spent part of that year in TNA Impact Wrestling.

Now, HHH himself has confirmed more wrestlers as well, mainly by way of answering a fan question about Sting. He teased the possibility of booking matches between Sting and himself, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Undertaker, and The Rock. (Little trivia for you non-wrestling fans, Sting has actually wrestled Undertaker and Steve Austin in WCW before, when they were using different gimmicks. I can’t vouch for HHH).

HHH then teases Sting being able to wrestle every legend in the WWE, and when you think about how they were able to sign practically every major US wrestling superstar in the ‘80s up to the ‘00s, and more besides, that is saying a lot.

Lastly, we also have confirmation of the return of Universe Mode, which is essentially your way of simulating booking in the WWE game. This iteration promises to return the ability to book matches, PPVs, rivalries, etc. As a wrestling fan in the ‘90s who muddled in old school, text based wrestling simulators, this is a welcome return, but I wish WWE would go all the way and put a full fledged manager/booker sim into the game. There’s always hope they can add it in this one… or the next one.
