Star Wars: Battlefront may have already been delayed according to SWTOR Strategies who cite unnamed sources as suggesting DICE’s shooter has been pushed back.Â
While the game has no official release date as of yet, EA’s chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen told the company’s investors last year that the game would “most likely” be released during the summer of 2015. The summer isn’t the most popular time of year of year for key big budget releases but launching them may well give EA chart topping success for several weeks at least.
On the other hand, Star Wars Episode 7 hits cinemas on December 18th, 2015 and an autumn or winter release would be better in terms of cashing in on the movie’s hype.Â
Given the problems which plagued Battlefield 4 for months after release, which caused DICE to suspend development on all other projects including Battlefront until the game was fixed, a delay is probably just as well.
While it’s unlikely that EA will comment on rumours of the game’s delay, we’ll update this post should anything be said on the matter.Â
At E3 last month, EA revealed a new developer diary for the game. DICE is also working on a Mirror’s Edge reboot though that game doesn’t have a release date either while development of this year’s Battlefield title, Hardline, is being handled by Dead Space maker Visceral.Â
