We have new information on Sunset Overdrive’s cooperative multiplayer mode, dubbed Chaos Squad.
Chaos Squad is for up to eight players, and is a fully democratic game mode. Each of the eight players gets to vote on the maps the team gets to play in the open world.
Entering Chaos Squad is suitably flashy. From the single player mode, and by this I mean inside the game itself, you enter a photobooth which will transmogrify and then bring you to the lobby to get to voting. When you beat a map, it opens up a path to play two more maps, to vote on again.
When you’re done going through the maps and collecting a lot of Chaos, the mode ends with Night Defense, an elaborate variation on tower defense. You have bases to protect, and traps to set before several waves of enemies go after you.
You can leave your best laid traps and attack enemies directly, or if you need to, you can move the traps around even while the enemies are coming in. Besting this mode earns you rewards you can bring back to your single player campaign.
Does this look like fun or what? Sunset Overdrive is coming to the Xbox One October 28, 2014. You can check out the trailer below.
