As we informed you recently, Nintendo's 74th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders took place earlier today. Japanese Twitter user NStyles was live tweeting the event and made mention that Nintendo announced 2 million worldwide sales for Mario Kart 8. IGN then contacted Nintendo to confirm the number.
Despite the Wii U's poor hardware sales, these figures for Mario Kart are quite promising. If the game continues to shift units at this rate throughout the year, it's entirely possible that it'll hit at least 4-5 million by the holidays.
Mario Kart 8 is currently available for Wii U.
