Sony's free-to-play MMO shooter PlanetSide 2 received a long-awaited update today when the swamp continent Hossin was finally added to the environment, adding 80 new bases and boggy terrain for players to mess around in. The original plan was to make it available by May, but better late than never, right?
According to the press release from Sony Online Entertainment, the following features have also appeared along with the Hossin map:
- Outfit Recruitment – New streamlined process for building, seeking and joining outfits. Players can choose their crew, their way with this new recruitment tool.
- Outfit Base Capture – New "ownership" system where the facility / outpost is awarded to the top contributing outfit during capture.
- Continent Locking – Offering an unprecedented level of player control, the Auraxian population can now control which continents are open for contest, when those continents have alerts and when warpgates will rotate.
This free update comes to the PC version of PlanetSide 2, as the PS4 version has yet to be released. Sony does promise that the PS4 build, tentatively scheduled for later this year, will gain a graphical boost over the PC original.
