Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn 2.3, Defenders of Eorzea, Unveiled

June 24, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

A Realm Reborn’s latest quests promise to keep you engaged.

We have new information on the latest expansion for Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn. Introducing Update 2.3, Defenders of Eorzea.

This update brings several scenarios up for you to try out. Frontline is perhaps the most unique, as it essentially puts you in the role of mercenary. The Allagan Ruins, deep in the Carteneau Flats, are in dispute among the nations of the Eorzean alliance. In the interests of preserving their otherwise stable alliance, the nations agree to a ‘civilized conflict’ within the area. The most adventurous of players can join up in regiments under the Grand Companies to lay claim to the ruins and their deeply held secrets.

The Crystal Towers are a quest that follow up from the Labyrinth of the Ancients. If you joined up in the fellowship of NOAH, you will now be facing the Syrcus Tower, the principal spire of the Crystal Tower. Awaiting within are formidable enemies like Scylla, Amon, and Xande.

You can also choose to face Ramuh, the Lord of Levin. The Striking Tree, guardian of Twelveswood’s sylphs, is itching for a reckoning with the warriors who threaten his children.

In terms of dungeons, you can take on Hullbreaker Isle, Tam-Tara Deepcroft, or Stone Vigil. Hullbreaker Isle, famed and feared as a final resting place for many a hapless ship, has found renewed interest, when it came to light the  legendary pirate Mistbeard’s flagship was marooned in the area.

Tam-Tara Deepcroft’s scenario is a mystery, but apparently involves a lovelorn maiden who initiates a quest when she receives a letter. It’s deeply implied that this is a quest to bring back the dead, by facing hordes of undead beasts.

Lastly, Stone Vigil is the once stronghold of the House Durendaire, now overrun with heretics. Lord Drillemont needs not heroes, but assassins, to take down these heretics and reclaim Stone Vigil once and for all.

But, there’s more! There are sidequests involving Hildibrand and Moogle Delivery, you can go on hunts, raise chocobos, etc. Check out the trailer below to get a preview of everything.
