Polytron Partners New Initiative To Bring Indies To Life, Starting With Panoramical

June 13, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

Yes, Phil Fish is involved in the gaming industry again. Just don’t say he’s a publisher.

Polytron has revealed a new initiative to help bring new indies to life, as a way of giving back to the community that helped produce its own hit, Fez. The initiative is called Polytron Partners, and the 1st game coming out under it is Panoramical.

Fish is insistent that Polytron Partners is not a publisher, quipping ‘what does that even mean in 2014, really?’ We’ll avoid getting snared into an argument with Fish about this point, but his statement does shed light on how Polytron Partners is going to operate. It’s a unique proposition, in the same way that Steam Greenlight and Ouya’s Freedom Fund offer something completely unique.

No, there still isn’t a Fez 2, but at least Phil Fish is renewing ties with the video game industry. We doubt you will object to Fish and Polytron using their money and resources to help other indies get finished and released. Whether they want to call themselves a publisher or development partner, Polytron Partners opens up one more window for indie creators to bring their works to life.

We 1st heard about Panoramical as far back as 2 years ago! The game will be released early 2015 to Steam. You can check out the game’s trailer below.
