Captain Toad will be making his way to the Wii U in the form of his own game sometime next year. He’ll be arriving in the form of Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, announced at Nintendo’s Digital Event from E3 2014 today, where a variety of the game’s puzzles were showcased in a gameplay trailer, which you can see below.
Like the side missions featured in Super Mario 3D World, Captain Toad will explore a variety of isometric levels in pursuit of loot, all the while avoiding traps and dodging foes.
Unlike Mario, who has the ability to jump, Captain Toad is limited to ground traversal, but he’ll be able to make up for his lack of athleticism with the ability to look around in first person mode thanks to the Wii U Gamepad.
It’s out next year for the Wii U.
