Square Enix has announced Hitman: Sniper, a free-to-play game for mobile and tablets which is set for release later in 2014.
On the franchise's website, Square Enix Montreal wrote:
"We’ve designed Hitman: Sniper to be a massively competitive sniping game that will focus on the subtlety of execution. You’ll need to have your wits about you to complete scenario-driven contracts that contain a number of targets and assignments."
The studio, which developed Hitman Go, says each contract has a high level of replayability and "creative alternatives" which allow players to test out new methods to top the leaderboards. The developer says the game is similar to Hitman: Sniper Challenge which was released by IO Interactive before Absolution was released.
In-game purchaes will include early access to contracts and sniper rifle upgrades but all enhancements can be unlocked through regular gameplay too.
IO recently revealed concept art for its next major Hitman game.
