How To Increase Your PS4 Controller Battery By Replacing The Battery

May 29, 2014 by Ian Miles Cheong

Here’s how to extend your playtime by replacing the battery of the PS4’s DualShock 4 controller.

Tired of having a short battery life on your PlayStation 4? Well, you have one of two options: either dim the brightness on the sensor back and increase the battery life by about an hour, or replace the battery. The former option doesn’t really add much time to the battery life of the device.

Replacing the battery itself is no easy feat, which is why JerryRigEverything has come up with a tutorial on how to do just that.

Keep in mind that you’ll need to pay really close attention to what he’s doing and have some knowledge of circuitry to make your way around the innards of the PS4’s DualShock 4 controller. You’ll also be voiding the warranty of the device, so keep that in mind.

Here’s his video on how to put a smart phone battery into the PS4 controller for longer play time.
