Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn will be getting updated to version 2.28 sometime within the next couple of weeks. It’s a fairly large patch that brings with it a host of improvements to the game.
Notables include the ability to repair gear without changing classes, the ability for crafters to ‘over repair’ an item to a max of 199% durability, the inclusion of all new hotbar set commands, the ability to queue as a party for high/expert roulettes, and customizable nameplates for friends.
Here’s what’s in store, in full:
UI changes
- customisable nameplates for friends
- titles showing in name plates
- retainer bags will now remember last position instead of returning to default-middle-of-nowhere-but-under-everything-important
- confirmation pop-up when materia-lising stuff.
- GC turn-ins will filter out items in armoury/inventory making it easier to pick up items. (pushed forward from 2.3)
- Leves required for animus will be more obvious
- linked items in chat will be more obvious
- filter options for crafting log
- auto-sort party list when joining a duty
- item preview (from market/vendors/craft logs)
- fate progress in maps
- teleport from map
- next text command to delete chat history
- new command to list all text commands
- auto-skip cutscenes that have already been viewed
Chocobo
- Currently, mobs have to be +/-5 levels of your current level for it to count towards the Chocobo's kill count in the challenge log. It will be changed to +/-10 levels so that mobs killed during level synced FATEs will add to the count as well.
- dismount using R1L1
more /hotbar set commands
Text command for setting stuff onto the hotbar/xhb. Currently only skills can be set. 2.28 will expand it to the below list
- Companion actions
- Pet actions
- Minions
- Mounts
- General actions
- Emotes
- Items
- Target markers
- Waymarks
Zodiac weapon questline
- adding Novus, the next available upgrade path.
Pets
- echo buffs will apply to pets
- changes to pet behaviours when jumping (more of a bug fix?)
Items
- plushy minion will be plushier
- gearsets will now save the display state of headgear and weapons.
- Able to repair items without changing classes (Not confirm, citation needed).
- crafters will be able to 'over-repair' to a max of 199%. (each repair adds 100% durability)
Housing
- auto-off for furniture like musical instructions, project module
Challenge Log
- new unspecified challenges
Exploration Log
- Basically something for the Noborists
- Will have 80 locations at launch
- The first 20 will contain hints, basically a tutorial.
- The rest you'll have to deduce through various haiku-like texts.
- Just reaching the location alone isn't enough, you'll have to perform various emotes (squatting, looking around, etc)
- since there isn't actually a 'squatting' emote available, it's possibly a new emote.
Mob Hunt
- Earn points by searching and hunting various types of Risky Mobs ranked S, A and B
- Ranks are related to rarity, not difficulty.
- Daily and weekly versions
- Points can be exchanged for myth items, alexandrite and some unique items
Dutyfinder changes
- Mog/Levi EX added
- Queue as a party for high/expert roulettes
- able to hand out commendations even when queuing with friends, though only to those you did not queue with
PvP
- all actions usable regardless of rank
- points to be used for buffing stats/actions/traits instead
Phantasia potions
- new optional server available from mog station
- available in sets of 1, 3 and 5. Each may only be purchased once.
- max purchase of 9
- non-tradeable
- delivered via Mogletter
- purchase will be account wide (delivered to all characters)
- probably 1000yen (about US$10) per potion
- character specific purchase will be implemented when ready.
