Upgraded and improved versions of Minecraft are coming to the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita, developer Mojang has announced today.
All new versions of the game will be released this coming August, and the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions are set to offer significantly bigger worlds and a greater draw distance than present editions. Each of them will be priced at an affordable $19.99 and purchasable from their respective digital outlets, Xbox Live Marketplace and PSN.
If you’ve bought Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition from Xbox Live Marketplace, or played online with the disc version, you will be able to upgrade to Xbox One Edition for $4.99. Likewise, if you bought the PS3 Edition of Minecraft from PSN, you will be able to upgrade to the PS4 version for $4.99. Anyone who owns the PS3 edition of the game will get the PS Vita version for free as a “cross buy” title.
For the PS Vita version of the game, all saves are compatible between the PS3 and PS Vita. You will be able to craft at home on your PS3 and continue elsewhere on the PS Vita, if you like.
Finally, many, but not all of the DLC skins and texture packs you purchased for the PS3 edition will be available for use on the PS Vita and PS4. Likewise too with the Xbox 360 and Xbox One editions.
Further details about the disparities between the versions can be found at Mojang’s official website.
