EA Sports recently released a new gameplay trailer for their upcoming MMA game EA Sports UFC. The trailer features one round of fighting between Jose Aldo and Anthony Pettis inside the Octagon.
The setup is largely similar to EA Sports past fighting games in the Fight Night series. It doesn't seem like players will be able to customize how they enter the Octagon. However, this could change since the game hasn't gone gold yet or it's possible that the entrance was toggled 'off' for this trailer.
The game looks beautiful as expected and it truly shows the power of the Ignite engine. It arguably utilizes it better than any other EA Sports games that have used it. The video also shows us a variety of moves from jabs, kicks, grapples, and submission moves. It would be interesting though to see one whole round wherein two fighters are locked in a submission hold.
The HUD features a stamina bar and a body figure beside it to show the health of each respective body part. For example, the head area flashes red when it is hit with a crushing blow. However, it doesn't show if an area would permanently be highlighted in a particular color if it is seriously damaged. It's too early to tell especially since it's only the first round shown.
Check out the video we posted that featured a behind the scenes look at designing the fighters. The game also aims to replicate Fight Night Round 3's success based on an interview.
Prepare to jump in the Octagon when EA Sports UFC comes out on June 17th for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
