Flappy Bird creator Dong Nguyen has said that be believes players will not become as addicted second time round when the game is re-released this summer.
In an interview with Rolling Stones contributing editor David Kushner, Nguyen was asked why he'd decided to bring the game back to which he replied:
"There are a lot of Flappy Bird clones and people confuse them with mine. That hurts my feelings and I would like to bring back the real Flappy Bird, at the moment, none of the Flappy Bird games on any app stores are mine."
One of the reasons Nguyen pulled the original game was because he was concerned at how addicted some players were becoming to the title but he's confident that this issue has been addressed for the relaunch.
"There are a lot of changes in this version, and players will be more satisfied even if they only play a few rounds a day. I am sure no one can play it for more than a few hours at a time."
To ensure that this is the case, there will be a cooling off system, Nguyen says:
"It will allow people to play for a few rounds in a row and then they will have to wait a few minutes for the system cool down in order to continue."
Nguyen says there will be new characters and a revised art style but he's not sure how many players can take part in multiplayer just yet.
Yesterday, Nguyen posted a screenshot of another game he's currently working on.
