As we promised yesterday, there's a new The Sims 4 gameplay trailer that features a more in-depth look at the "Create-a-Sim" aspect of the game. While we got a glimpse of how different it is from its predecessor from gamescom, this video shows how innovative and powerful it really is.
The gameplay video was narrated by game producer Ryan Vaughn and he used Bella and Mortimer Goth as templates to show off the revamped creation mode. The iconic family was announced to return quite recently. He describes it as: "more tactile, intuitive, and much more powerful."
In the past, players could only adjust the overall weight of a Sim so they could only be fat, thin, and average. Vaughn shows how it's now possible to create more realistic figures. For example, he pointed out how Bella has always been fit but is also a curvaceous woman. Instead of utilizing the limited physical sliders and navigating through endless menus, players can be more detailed by simply pushing and pulling on any region of the body.
He adds that there is "direct manipulation from head to toe" like the size of their thighs or the how big their smile is. The game also boasts a variety of facial features that are more diverse and representative of the races around the world.
Additionally, Vaughn introduced "Styled Looks" as it gives players the chance to give Sims a complete outfit based on a particular style quickly. I am guessing this is improving one aspect of The Sims 3 wherein random pieces of clothing were matched together in the weirdest combinations.
While there are certainly new features, customizing a Sim's voice, personality traits, and aspiration will return. However, the new game will now let you customize how your sims walk too based on their character.
The Sims 4 is definitely making a lot of much needed and well-received changes with the latest entry in the franchise. It also looks like they are bringing back some of the features fans love.
Get ready to play God once more when The Sims 4 comes out later this year.
