Insomniac Games recently released a new gameplay video that showacases several aspects of their upcoming game Sunset Overdrive. Additionally, a tweet reveals that there will be online co-op in the game.
First, the developers walk viewers into the setting. The year is 2027 in the fictitious Sunset city in America. A company releases an energry drink called Over Charge that turns people into mutants. It was noted that the only thing the creatures care about other than killing you is getting more of that drink.
The game is not a cover shooter, as it builds on "momentum and style." There is also a style meter that'll encourage players to be active and play well. Some of the players arsenal was talked about as well. Twist of Fate will occasionally burst into a nucelar explpsions and a TNT Teddy Bear. The developers also teased unique death and respawn scenes like coming out of a phone booth or drilling your way out beneath the street.
Players can also play and be who they want to be through customization. The developers want to players be as crazy as they want with the open world.
We posted the first gameplay video of the game a couple of day ago too and it's worth checking out.
In addition, Insomniac Games recently revelead in a response to a fan tweet that Sunset Overdrive will offer online co-op. However, it was unspecified if this would be available at launch or in an update. It was noted though that the campaign itself cannot by played with others.
