Nintendo has offically denied rumours that the company will announce new hardware at E3 next month.
A Nintendo spokesperson told Digital Spy that the firm "is not revealing any hardware" in June and the company has also denied the claim in a statement to CVG. The Japanese game maker was even more firm in its statement to Eurogamer commenting, "we definitely aren't announcing hardware at this years E3".
The reports originated when IGN's Peer Schneider said during a podcast that several sources had informed him of Nintendo's intentions. IGN did not publish a news report on Schneider's comments, suggesting the story did not pass internal scrutiny for publication.
However, the story gained traction when the usually reputable VideoGamer announced that several of its sources had informed the site of Nintendo's plans.
It was recently announced that Nintendo will not have an E3 press conference for the second year a row but will instead have a series of online events.
Nintendo consoles have struggled of late, with both the 3DS and Wii U falling far short of original estimates for the fiscal year which ended March 31st.
