Interceptor Entertainment has announced that it will be developing a remake of the classic Duke Nukem 3D, powered by the Unreal Engine 3. Titled Duke Nukem 3D: Reloaded, the game is slated for a release later this year.
The voice of Duke, Jon St. John, will be lending his talent to the game.
Interceptor says that the title will have a full multiplayer element with support for 16 players. Classic maps like Hollywood Holocaust will be remade in the new engine. Players will be able to participate in Dukematch, Capture the Babe and a mode called Horde. The studio plans to release a multiplayer demo containing two multiplayer maps, seven weapons and four weapons.
Interceptor promises to recreate the original game, while adding "new and exciting vehicular sequences, non-playable characters, scripted events and all-new interactive experiences." In other words, the game will have on-rails action sequences. Additional changes will be made to the game's levels to bring it up to date with modern games.
