We have more details on newly playable character Rise Kujikawa for Persona 4 Arena Ultimax.
As a quick recap, Rise was present in the 1st Persona 4 Arena, as an announcer character. If you played through the game, however, you would find out this announcer Rise is actually a fake installed by the tournament organizers. The real Rise was damseled and found by the end of the game.
In Ultimax, Rise was planning a return to show business as a Japanese singing idol. She was intent taking lessons and practicing when she gets drawn back into the tournament, this time as one of the entrants herself, when she finds the town covered up in a mysterious red fog.
Rise was always a support character in Persona 4, never in the frontlines, so her fighting style is more akin to Phoenix Wright in Marvel versus Capcom 3. We do finally know her Persona, Himiko. Her microphone becomes an impromptu weapon, and she can throw out musical notes as projectiles. She also has a one-hit-KO move called True Story, where Himiko holds her opponent down while she charms them with a song to finish.
Perhaps most intriguing is her Shadow form Risette, and if you have played the game or seen the anime, you know that this can potentially get into dark territory.
Atlus also revealed Ultimax will have a story mode and Golden Arena Mode, that will allow you to level up and allocate skills and stats, which sounds very similar to Edge Master in the Soul series. There will be boss battles and 150 skills to learn. Rakuten has also revealed that the game will have DLC down the line.
Persona 4 Arena Ultimax will be coming to the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 Fall of this year. Check out the introduction trailer below.
