We have a possible leak of characters for Smash Bros. While we are reporting on it, we suggest you look at it with some healthy skepticism though. We’ll explain why below.
So, as we already know, part of the roster are Mario, Luigi, Peach, Koopa, Rosalina, Yoshi, Wario, Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Mega Man, Link, Zelda, Shiek, Toon Link, Kirby, the Animal Crossing Villager, Sonic, Samus, Zero Suit Samus, Pikachu, Charizard, King Dedede, Lucario, Greninja, Pit, Captain Olimar, Fox McCloud, Falco, Marth, and Little Mac.
Who’s new? If this screen is to be believed, Ganondorf, MetaKnight, Jigglypuff, Ice Climbers, Mr. Game & Watch, Captain Falcon, Ness are coming back, and along with them is Chrom, straight out of Fire Emblem Awakening.
Does this roster seem believable? I think so. Aonuma’s comments about the use of characters implies that he will be bringing back more characters than making new ones. It’s also a decision that would make more sense to please the Smash community, many of whom have trained to play certain characters for years.
But, we still caution against believing this is true. Why? Because of the Ice Climbers. Sakurai has already said that Popo and Nana were proving difficult to bring to the 3DS. Some fans have speculated that Rosalina and Luma were being designed to fit their role as two independently controllable characters in their stead. Still, he made that statement many months ago, so things may have changed, or Sakurai may have decided to cut the duo on 3DS and go forward with it anyway.
So, the real question is, is this a roster you would be happy with? Or would you rather they added other characters to the fold? I was personally rooting for Chrom’s daughter Lucinda instead of him, but maybe you feel differently. Let us know how you feel about it in the comments below.
