Dark Souls 2 Aurous Visible Armor Farming Exploit Guide

April 19, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

Better get to this before From Software patches it.

This is a guide on how to get the Aurous Visible Armor in Dark Souls 2. Better get to this before From Software patches it.

Usually this kind of bug would be considered game-breaking. However, considering how difficult it is to get the Visible Armor due to randomization, we thought it would not hurt anyone’s enjoyment of the game at all if we laid out a guide for a trick that still demanded a certain amount of skill to pull off. If you’ve been struggling to get the armor for a while now, we have the guide for you. Note that you can only execute this trick if you are already playing on New Game Plus 7 or if you summoned Aurous using a Bonfire Ascetic from a No-Man’s Wharf Bonfire.

So, what you need to do is defeat everyone in the vicinity first. And then, you face on Aurous, whittling his health down and luring him slowly towards the Boss Door. If you strike down Aurous and immediately enter the door, going into the Boss Fog, you will activate the bug.

So what the bug does is allow you to keep any items, ratio, etc you earned and picked up from beating Aurous, and then come back into the game and find him ready to fight again. In essence, this is a setup to farm Aurous for that Visible Armor.

For that final blow, you want a weapon that can strike quickly, even behind a shield. You also want it to do elemental damage, so that Aurous won’t be able to block it and strike back. The weapon in demonstration is the Black Knight Halberd, which can kill in one hit even when it is blocked.

When you land that killing blow, you need to be mindful of the saving indicator, which is a small burning flame that appears on the upper right. You need to get through the boss door immediately, and as soon as you’re in the fog you quit.

You can also access the game menu while walking through the fog, so what you do is switch to system tools, and then go up to quit, and finally, confirm. Again, you need to go through these menus after passing through the door, and when the animation for entering the fog has ended. If you wait too long, the game will save Aurous’ death.

Assuming you did it right, when you go back into the game, you will respawn at the gangplank on Aurous’ ship. You will also find Aurous where he was last, ready to be killed and farm items for again.

You can get a few extra tips and see how to execute to activate the bug below.
