In a post on Ubisoft's blog, the company's Communications Manager Gary Steinman announced that Red Storm, developers of Tom Clacy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, will be co-developing Tom Clancy's The Division alongside Ubisoft Massive
"While Massive is running the development of The Division – building everything from their proprietary Snowdrop engine powering the game, to the design of the world, the innovative gameplay systems and the intriguing story – the Swedish studio began to seek out additional Ubisoft studio support last fall. Red Storm was naturally at the top of their list, simply based on their long history with Clancy game," the post read.
It was also noted that Red Storm was brought in because they could attend to Massive's primary need of developing an authentic arsenal of weapons.
We previously reported that Ubisoft Reflections is also co-developing the game. However, Steinman addressed concerns that the game is in trouble because there are many teams involved. "You might even wonder about any possible tensions that could naturally arise on a global team involving multiple studios around the world," he wrote. "The good news: no such tensions exist. At all."
Earlier this month, we also found out that the Snowdrop engine was in development for five years.
The Division is expected to launch later this year for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
