12 years later, some surprising updates have come up for Star Citizen spin-off Squadron 42.

As shared on ResetERA by user Nerun, Squadron 42 is one of the dozens of games that’s had its Steam achievements list revealed. Neither Cloud Imperium Games nor Valve have announced or confirmed that either Star Citizen or Squadron 42 are releasing on Steam.
On top of that, several content creators have revealed they were invited to a preview event this October. It isn’t clear if games media are also invited, but they are apparently placing strict conditions in their NDAs.
They are allowed to capture specific moments and areas approved by CIG, but most gameplay and the townhall meeting at the event will be under NDA. They will also be allowed to share gameplay impressions, but no gameplay footage unless approved. There may also be interviews but apparently event that isn’t certain.
As of this writing, Cloud Imperium Games has delayed Squadron 42 to the second half of 2027. With everything that’s happened, skepticism is warranted, but since they didn’t announce this either it may be an actual good sign.
