Nintendo has revealed Metroid Ravenous, the next 2D game in the Metroid franchise.

As Samus herself explains in the trailer, she was attacked by assailants she doesn’t know and is fighting to survive in the moon she is in now. She is also suffering grave injuries, but is willing to even feed on her enemies to survive.
This narration alludes to events in Metroid Dread, but we’ll spare you from further spoilers here. We do see the trailer end with Samus grab an opponent, with her eyes glowing out of her broken visor.
We’re not sure yet if Samus has turned into a space vampire, sucking the lifeforce out of everything around her, but we know we can’t wait to find out! Metroid Ravenous is releasing on the Switch 2 on January 28, 2027.
Nintendo also revealed that Metroid Ravenous is getting a special edition, as well as three amiibo. We’ll share more details on all of these as they arrive.
