Wizards don’t need much in the way of buffs in Diablo 3. The new class, Crusaders, however, do. Like the amount of commas that went into that previous sentence, Crusaders are set to receive a host of upgrades in an upcoming patch that’s expected to drop sometime this week, if not today after the game’s maintenance period ends.
The buffs for the Crusader are in line with Blizzard’s design philosophy for the class: slow, tanky characters with massive burst damage. They’ll still suffer in terms of resource (Wrath) generation but they’ll be able to dish out a lot more damage with the upcoming improvements. Almost every resource spender will be getting buffed, in some cases upwards of 50% more damage.
It’s not all buffs, though. Notably, the Heaven’s Fury rune Fires of Heaven will be getting nerfed slightly from 950% damage down to 735%. But that shouldn’t stop the so-called “God Rifle” build from being any less useful. You’re free to disagree.
In addition to Crusader buffs, the Barbarian, Witch Doctor, and Demon Hunter will also be getting buffed, albeit to a lesser extent. Here’s a full list of expected changes, datamined by Diablofans:
