The Super Smash Bros – themed Nintendo Direct is only a few hours away, but a little bit of news has sprung up on fans. Apparently the Direct will not reveal a solid release date, but a ‘rough release date’.
The news comes from the game’s Japanese Twitter account, and so we are depending on our source for their translation. As they point out, this could open up the release date to this month, this quarter, even the following year. This has put off some fans, who remember well Nintendo’s propensity to delay games. It often is for the sake of polish, and a cancellation at a late stage like Earthbound 64 is rare, but it is only natural for doubt to take root with this revelation.
Of course, Sakurai has been generous to post a screenshot with fans everyday, which is essentially daily proof that production on the game has not suffered any serious delay. Considering Sakurai has been nursing an injury throughout this period, that really is saying something.
Sakurai has of course posted about the upcoming Direct on Miiverse, stating simply that this upcoming release will have tons of new info on the game. Whatever date we get, there’s bound to be a lot of hype post Direct from all the reveals they will have from the event.
What are you looking forward to from the Direct later today? Feel free to post your dream characters, and maybe stuff outside from that if you would like, on our comments below. Until further notice, Super Smash Bros for 3DS and Wii U is arriving this 2014.
