Konami seems to have dropped hints at the possible release for Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain.
There is no mistaking the message here. A fan has uploaded a screen they arrived at after registering their copy of Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes. Simply put, the screen tells fans to come back early 2015 to claim their downloadable content.
So, we don’t have confirmation from Konami or Kojima about this yet, but as fans point out, this can only mean DLC following or close to the release of the Phantom Pain. Therefore, Phantom Pain must be coming out either early 2015, or a little earlier than that.
Irregardless of the size of the project, Phantom Pain has been in development since 2011. Going past 2015 for release could be catastrophic, since it would lead to the game going beyond budget. There’s no reason to believe that Kojima has faced any such delays at this time, so I also believe we can’t be waiting for it for any longer than another year. For hardcore Metal Gear fans, it will still feel like forever, but in the meantime, there’s Ground Zeroes to play, here and now.
