Sales of The Last of Us have reached six million, developer Naughty Dog has announced on its website.
It was recently announced that The Last of Us will be adapted into a movie which creative director Neil Druckmann confirmed yesterday will be based directly on the story of the game.
Naughty Dog won five awards at this week's BAFTA 2014 show, including best game.
Developer Eric Monacelli wrote:
"We’re now heading to GDC to talk about some of the techniques and process that went into making The Last of Us, which has now hit over six million copies sold worldwide, as well as what made Left Behind, our first ever downloadable, single player story chapter, so unique."
In July of last year it was announced that sales of the game had reached 3.4 million, becoming the fastest selling title in the PS3's history.
Naughty Dog is currently developing a new Uncharted for PS4 and Druckmann said that the studio is currently "brainstorming some stuff" regarding the possibility of a The Last of Us sequel.
