Total War: Rome 2 is set to receive its second major expansion pack at the end of this month. Dubbed Hannibal at the Gates, players will head to the Western Mediterranean during the second Punic War and play the role of one of the greatest military commanders in history, Hannibal Barca.
The campaign pack introduces a brand new campaign map that sees Rome and Carthage at each others’ throats and introduces three new factions, including the Arevaci, the Lusitani, and the Syracuse. Both Rome and Carthage are set to receive a brand new diplomacy-based civil tech tree.
In addition to announcing the new DLC, publisher SEGA revealed that Rome 2 sold over a million copies by the end of 2013.
"Rome 2 was hugely ambitious for our studio," said creative director Mike Simpson. "We do regret that some reviewers and core fans didn't get everything they wanted from it. We are committed to improving and adding to the game over the coming months; we very much want Rome 2 to be remembered as one of our best."
