Excitement has been building for a good long while now for these next-generation video game consoles. We knew that going into 2020 that we would see both Sony and Microsoft showcase their next-generation platforms along with their intended release this holiday season. While the worldwide health pandemic outbreak that is the coronavirus has likely altered both company’s plans to showcase their consoles, we’re not going to see these platforms get delayed out of their holiday 2020 launch schedule.
While we are still waiting to see more about each console and their features, there is a new highlight video showcasing the dashboard for the Xbox Series X. This new visual design is not only aimed at making navigation along with getting to a video game title faster but seamless across all Xbox platforms. It’s been a move that Microsoft has been making a bit with there being less focus on just a single console platform and making the Xbox brand featured across several platforms.
We’re seeing this same UI with the updated visuals and navigation options being presented in the Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and even the PC platform. Of course, there is another platform area that Xbox is hoping to really showcase during this upcoming generation console life cycle and that’s the smartphone. A new application will allow some Xbox Series X account integration between the console and smartphone.
One of the ways that the team gave an example of just how the smartphone could be a useful tool for the Xbox Series X is that a user could capture a video clip that they would like to share with their friends. Rather than navigating on the console itself, the Xbox smartphone app would instantly load up the clip to further share on different social media platforms.
Currently, we’re still waiting to see just when the Xbox Series X will launch. We don’t have an exact date to mark on our calendars just yet for the console. Likewise, we’re not sure just how much the console will set players back when it does make a debut at your local retailers.
