A new video interview with Hideo Kojima and Yoji Shinkawa comes with exclusive footage of Metal Gear Solid 5, courtesy of PlayStation Access. The footage comes from never-before-seen sequences from the PlayStation 4 version of the game.
In the interview, Kojima was asked why he was putting together a prologue of Metal Gear Solid 5. Kojima responded by saying that he’s creating Metal Gear Solid 5 because when he first conceived of the Metal Gear concept 20 years ago, he wanted to create a proper stealth game—the console hardware now allows for him to do just that.
“I wanted to build an open world strategy game where you build up your own strategy when it comes to stealth and infiltration,” said Kojima. “People who are used to the linear games we’ve been making so far are going to see a big change with Metal Gear Solid 5. So we made Camp Omega in Ground Zeroes where people will be able to learn how to play through these open world environments.”
“The main game, The Phantom Pain, will be over 200 times bigger than Camp Omega so people will be able to take what they’ve learned in Ground Zeroes and make it come to fruition in The Phantom Pain.”
