Doom 4 is in active development and those who pre-order Wolfenstein: The New Order will gain access to the game's beta Eurogamer reports.
Bethesda referred to the game only as Doom rather than Doom 4 possibly suggesting that the title will be a reboot for the franchise. The publisher offered no further details on the game.
Last April, Bethesda's marketing boss Pete Hines said of the game:
"An earlier version of Doom 4 did not exhibit the quality and excitement that id and Bethesda intend to deliver and that Doom fans worldwide expect.
"As a result, id refocused its efforts on a new version of Doom 4 that promises to meet the very high expectation everyone has for this gameand this franchise. When we're ready to talk about the Doom 4 id is making, we will let folks know."
MachineGames' Wolfenstein: The New Order is due out on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360 on 23rd May this year meaning that Doom 4's beta will be at some point after that. It's unclear whether Doom 4 will be released on all of the platforms mentioned above, however.
Bethesda has also released a new gameplay trailer for Wolfenstein which you can see below.
