A new rumor has come up for Watch Dogs’ release date. While this one does not name specific sources, they have an actual date: April 25. The rumor is unusual, since we only have the one site to rely on, and also because the date falls on a Friday.
Regarding the Friday date, while most games come out on Tuesdays, there are known exceptions, particularly now in the 8th generation of consoles. Both the Playstation 4 and Xbox One were released on Fridays, and the projected release date of infamous: Second Son will also be a Friday.
The site claims they have multiple sources on this one, and so they feel safe about giving a date out. Does that make this rumor reliable? Absolutely not, but now it’s their word against other sources.
Just a few days ago we cited several voice actors in the game, with one claiming it would be arriving later than April, either May or June. Of course, our source then could simply be throwing us off, but at least we have a name to attach it to.
What I wrote then about the foibles of developing launch games for new consoles still applies. If anything, the difference of a month or two may not accurately indicate the level of development, since Ubisoft could simply sit on a ready game to release on a favorable date.
Of course, anticipation for Watch Dogs has not died down from the delays either, although I have a feeling the graphics may not match up to expectations, even with the additional development time. We will find out when Watch Dogs comes out for Playstation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC, whatever that date may be.
