Microsoft has quashed speculation of a Halo movie saying there are "no plans" for one at the moment in a statement to Eurogamer.
A spokesperson commented:
"The Halo franchise encompasses many elements, including games, action figures, novels and more.
"As always, we have many projects in the works that offer us the opportunity to bring in new audiences to the franchise, as we did in the past with Halo Legends and Halo: Forward Unto Dawn.
"We plan to continue telling the Halo story through innovative channels, but there are no plans for a Halo motion picture at this time."
A Halo TV series is planned however and will have the services of Steven Spielberg as producer while the game in the Halo series is set for release later this year. The game is the second part of the Reclaimer Saga which was kicked off by Halo 4 but has yet to be given a title following its announcement at E3 last year.
Tweets earlier this week from Production Weekly seemed to suggest Alien director Ridley Scott was due to produce a Halo movie.
Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson was at one time connected to the project as was District 9 director Neill Blomkamp who said the failure to get a Halo movie off the ground was the luckiest break of his career. Blomkamp has also commented that he would like to return to the project, however.
