Sony doesn’t let Microsoft have the spotlight for very long, does it? During the company’s CES presentation, Sony Computer Entertainment president Andrew House announced that 4.2 million PlayStation 4s have been sold since the console’s launch in November. That’s compared to Microsoft’s current figure of just over 3 million Xbox One boxes sold.
It’s a pretty significant jump from the 2.1 million PS4s sold we heard of last, but the many new territories the company jumped into helps. The console first launched in North America Nov. 15, but the full global rollout really began Nov. 28. Japan, one of Sony’s most prominent markets, won’t get the PS4 until next month.
