The HD remastering of Final Fantasy X and X-2 have made the massive PlayStation 2 RPGs look better than ever, but the hard work wasn’t done by Square Enix. A new post has revealed that Virtuos Games is the real team of experts behind the upcoming project.
Although the much heralded titles were "created and published by Square Enix, the HD versions of the titles were remastered by Virtuos." Thankfully, this isn’t some unknown group of developers handling the prized RPG. Virtuos brought XCOM: Enemy Unknown to iOS and contributed to The Last of Us by creating "character art, environment art and props… including clothing for main characters Joel and Ellie." This might be the team’s biggest task up to this point, but it’s not like they were ill prepared.
It might be in new hands, but that shouldn't stem your excitement to replay the classics. Final Fantasy X and X-2 HD Remaster will be available on PS3 and PlayStation Vita March 18 in North America and March 21 in Europe.
