Fans can do truly amazing things when they put their heads together, and this Skywind project is a strong example. More than 70 dedicated modders have come together to create a modification for The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim that brings the wonderful world of Morrowind to the updated engine. It’s far from completion, but a new video has been released that showcases what the team has been able to think up during their time together.
Why spend the time bringing an old locale to a 2012 game? Much of it has to do with passion, but the narrator of the video mentions that his team wants to “create something that could be embraced by both by Bethesda and The Elder Scrolls community. It is a chance for fans to recreate a loved world in their design and make it their own." If you watch the video above and love Bethesda’s work, you’ll likely be impressed.
It’s not easy feat, as plenty of new pieces of geography are being added to populate the world. Voice actors, concept artists, new creature designers, and a bevy of skill-based roles have been filled, and you can download an unfinished version of it right now if you’re interested in seeing how far they’ve come. To play Skywind, you’ll have to own licensed copies of Morrowind and all of its expansions, as well as Skyrim on PC.
