This is a guide for the MTAR-X in Call of Duty Ghosts.
The MTAR-X deals out good damage, able to take out an enemy up close with 3 shots, 2 if one is a headshot. It is consistent at midrange with a 4 shot kill, 3 if one is a headshot.
810 RPM is a low rate of fire for an SMG, but sufficient for close quarters combat. The MTAR-X does have good hipfire, so it’s really not that big a deal, all things considered.
The MTAR-X has moderate recoil, so you will need to utilize some trigger control to make good use of its consistent range damage. Aim time is fast at 200 ms, and it has full mobility.
Magazines can carry 38 rounds, 57 for extended magazines. However, reload time is on the slow side at 3.20 seconds, in fact the slowest for any SMG. You will have to manage your output carefully, but that high capacity means you should not be left wanting if you keep it in mind.
The MTAR-X shares traits with both the assault rifle and the SMG, so you will want to build a class that enhances its versatility. Rapid Fire will raise your close quarters effectivity without too much recoil. Use in tandem with the Foregrip to extend that effectivity to medium range. This combination does not cancel each other out; rather, it leverages the MTAR-X’s strengths.
When it comes to Perks, you definitely want Sleight of Hand to bring reloads better in line with what you need. Steady Aim will work with Rapid Fire to give you the edge at closer range. Focus will also counteract that recoil at longer ranges. Beyond this, you will want to get handling and mobility Perks for the MTAR-X.
