The Star Wars franchise has seen a few video game titles released since Disney obtained the rights to the IP. However, it seems that the biggest title to have come out since then was Respawn Entertainment’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. After the success of a single player video game title set within the Star Wars universe, perhaps EA will bring out more titles that follow that playstyle, one of which could be this upcoming Star Wars Project Maverick title.
We don’t know anything about Star Wars Project Maverick. The only reason it was leaked was due to a bot that managed to pick up the title and logo after it was submitted to the PSN. Now that it’s out in the open, there is speculation on what this title may be about.
All we have is an image of a Star Destroyer so really this doesn’t tell us much of anything but perhaps the reason it was put on the PSN could be an indicator that something is coming soon in terms of an official announcement. For now, all we can do is wait and see if maybe we get some type of unveiling soon, however, the announcement could get pushed back if it’s intended for a big event like E3. With the coronavirus being a pandemic and events coming to a close, there is a possibility that E3 could get pushed back but at the moment the event is still planned for June.
In other Star Wars news, it was unveiled that EA killed off another Star Wars title which was only codenamed Viking. Hopefully, this game continues to thrive and is able to make it out into the public marketplace, but it wouldn’t be the first title to get axed by EA if the company doesn’t feel that it’s up to expectations.
