According to the latest issue of GameInformer, as spotted by VideoGamer, an ad for Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag story DLC Freedom Cry had revealed the release date of the expansion as December 17th.
Freedom Cry takes place 15 years after the events of the main story and casts players as Edward Kenway's shipmate Adewale. You can check out a trailer for the DLC here while a synopsis reads:
"Born a slave, Adewale found freedom as a pirate aboard the Jackdaw as Captain Edward Kenway’s second-in-command. Fifteen years later, Adewale has become a trained assassin and finds himself shipwrecked in Saint-Domingue with no weapon nor crew, starting a new adventure of his own."
If the ad is to be believed, the DLC will be fairly extensive, running to more than four hours. The price of Freedom Cry has yet to be revealed but Season Pass holders will get the DLC for free.
The ad lists PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One suggesting the DLC will launch on those platforms on the same day though as usual European PlayStation owners will likely have to wait until the following day, Wednesday December 18th.
It's unclear when the DLC will arrive on PC and a Wii U version has not been announced.
