God of War Ascension Director Joins Crytek

December 2, 2013 by Stephen Daly

Todd Papy is working on an unannounced project at German developer.

Todd Papy, the director of God of War: Ascension, has left Sony Santa Monica Studios for Crytek in Frankfurt to work on an unannounced game.

The news was revealed by a change in Papy's Twitter bio which now reads: "Game Director at Crytek on an unannounced project."

Papy joined Sony as a senior designer in 2006, before becoming design director on 2008's God of War 3 and then game director on Ascension which was released earlier this year.

He revealed that he had left Santa Monica Studios last month saying at the time that:

"I haven't quit games. We decided to move to Germany. We want to experience a different culture & all the wonderful things that Europe has to offer."

Crytek's last game was Xbox One exclusive Ryse: Son of Rome while Sony Santa Monica is known to be developing for PlayStation 4 while also assisting Ready at Dawn in the development of The Order: 1886, also on PS4.
