The Witcher really became a mainstream franchise as of late. With the launch of the trilogy video game title releases from CD Projekt Red and a new live-action television series adaptation featured on Netflix, there is plenty of newcomers entering the IP for the first time ever. Now that the series has become a hit with the first season available to enjoy right now, a new rumor has been circulating online.
This Netflix series starring Henry Cavill as Geralt has plenty of interest in a second season. Of course, with that said, there is plenty of concern about what may happen next with the IP. Now a new rumor has come up that suggests Netflix has an animated film being produced that will connect the events between the first season and a second season launching in 2021.
Regardless, there’s no official word quite yet on what this animated film will be about and if we could see animated films produced to bridge seasons. Likewise, there is a good chance that this film may not be real as we could potentially see nothing but Netflix putting all efforts into the live-action series. All we have to go off on right now is a listing from the WGA that states an animated film titled The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf will come out from Netflix.
What would be interesting to see if this film does come to fruition is if we’ll see the same cast reprise the roles of their characters. It’s not uncommon to see voice actors take over the character roles of animated films, but for now, it’s anyone’s guess as to what will come next for the much-beloved franchise.
