Streaming service Twitch has confirmed to Joystiq that it is currently working to bring livestream archives to the PlayStation 4 with the possibility open that the feature could also come to Xbox One.
Twitch's Vice President of Marketing Matthew DiPietro said:
"We find archiving to be an exciting part of the broadcast experience, especially since broadcasters and their viewers love to be able to revisit and share some of their most memorable moments.
"It's up to our partners to determine if it's a feature set they want to offer as part of their Twitch integration, so we encourage them to keep this functionality top of mind."
A Sony representative noted the company is "planning to add [Twitch] livestream archiving in the future" on PlayStation 4 but would not comment on when the featue might be rolled out or what the quality of the footage might be – Twitch streams on PS4 are currently not in high definition.
Microsoft added that: "We're always listening to our fans' feedback, and this is certainly something we'd consider adding. We look forward to bringing Twitch broadcast to Xbox One early next year and will share more details on features in the future."
Earlier this week Microsoft announced that Twitch would not be available on Xbox One until some undisclosed point in the first half ot 2014.
