Could news of Fallout 4 soon be on the way? A website called TheSurvivor2299.com, apparently registered by Zenimax, has started rumors anew. Spotted by a Game Informer tipster, it features a countdown box using the classic Fallout font, and a string of mysterious (and creepy!) Morse code translating to 12.11.13. If authentic, it could provide some clues as to the next game's location, time, and lead character.
One tip-off that it might be a hoax is the lack of consistency with other Fallout related sites, like BethBlog.com, which are registered by Corporate Domains, Inc., not GoDaddy.com. Nonetheless, if it's a fake it's a good one. 2299 could easily reference a year within the continuing Fallout story and "The Survivor" follows the pattern of previous Fallout protagonists' nicknames, like The Lone Wanderer and The Courier.
As noted by Game Informer, two sound files contained within the source code reference towns in Connecticut and Massachussets, supporting rumors that the series would be returning to the East Coast. Whatever the case, more information may become available on December 11, 2013.
Update: new information tracks the website's registration back to Poland, suggesting that this is indeed a hoax. Bummer.
