While there are some Xbox Ones out their in the wild already – though their owners can't use the console until closer to launch – the first officially sold Xbox One will go to a New Zealand gamer.
That system currently resides in a tank filled with 20 sharks which Xbox New Zealand PR director Steven Blackburn calls the console's "bodyguards".
A team of divers placed the console in a perspex box 3.5 meters underwater.
Speaking to the New Zealand Herald Blackburn said Microsoft was launching its first console in eight years in New Zealand because of its "passionate gaming community".
He added that Xbox NZ has yet to decide how to choose which lucky gamer would receive the first console. Their priority was to make sure the Xbox One survived being placed in the shark tank for a week.
