Reggie Fils-Aime is an icon in the video game industry. For years we’ve known the man as the Nintendo of America president and he’s been present publicly for the Nintendo brand in a wide variety of events like E3. Being a person looked towards for answers and anticipation of what’s to come for Nintendo in the future, it’s hard to see him as still a prominent person involved with Nintendo. Still, he’s left the game industry and has since moved on to providing lectures at Cornell University.
During his career, EarthBound fans have been flooding questions to Reggie about a western localization for Mother 3, a direct sequel that came out in 2006 on the Nintendo Game Boy Advance. Unfortunately, the game never localized and released into Western markets. Speaking at Cornell, there was a moment that was opened to those that attended to ask questions leading to fun back and forth. One particular student asked Reggie a question he had to deal with for years and if he thought Nintendo would ever bring Mother 3 into the market.
Reggie took the question in good fun and laughed at the idea of going through a presentation where he would dodge the dreaded Mother 3 question. Fortunately for him, it’s a question that’s easy to dodge as he’s no longer part of the decision when it comes to bringing the game out into the market.
The question was caught on video and you can see the full response from Reggie. At the end of the day, Reggie has no pull when it comes to Mother 3, but it seems like even after his departure from Nintendo he’s still not going to dodge the western release plea from fans.
