AMD has released their latest Catalyst 13.11 Beta8 Driver, addressing issues with Battlefield 4 running on Windows 8. This follows efforts by EA to collect information on said issues on their forums.
If you remember yesterday, players were dealing with an issue called the Red Screen of Death, and EA asked fans to collect information on their official forums. It seems their efforts paid off as AMD was quick to release new drivers.
Whereas Beta7 Driver was just released the day before, scaling up AMD Crossfire by 20 %, Beta8 was released, in AMD’s words, to resolve intermittent crashes experienced by Battlefield 4 on Windows 8 based systems. AMD did not provide complete release notes for this release.
Unfortunately, some players who have tested the driver are still reporting issues playing the game. This time, new concerns are propping up. Some people are reporting issues with the sound looping and the game crashing. Other are complaining they are receiving NSIS errors. We believe these new issues coming up are no longer related to this issue, but are due to Battlefield 4 on PC having problems in general. You can read more about it here.
There also seem to be problems downloading the drivers themselves, ironically coming from the official AMD site. Guru3D is sharing their own copy of the drivers and some players are saying that version is not loaded with issues.
For the sake of convenience, we will share links to get drivers from either site below. You will want to visit the AMD site either way if you want to see the release notes.
