Serebii reports that a Japanese TV special on Pokemon Company head Tsunekaz Ishihar has revealed an unannounced Nintendo game for 3DS which casts players as a detective whose sidekick is none other than Pikachu.
The title does not currently have a name but is set to be released at some point in 2015. Nintendo has previously teased images of a prototype game which allows Pikachu to somewhat creepily mimic your facial expressions and it's likely the same project. However, these used the mo-cap technology employed for the game's voice actors so it's unclear if gamers will be able to do the same.
Regardless, it seems a special blue Pikachu will also star in the game but it's unclear what caused the strange colouring or what role the blue Pokemon might play.
The games used the first person perspective for at least some of the action which is a break from traditional Pokemon titles such as X and Y which are in third person. We see the player observing clues using a magnifying glass in the 3D environment.
Pokemon X and Y, the latest entries in the franchise, were released earlier this month and were awarded a 9/10 score in our review.
CSI Kanto, anyone?
