We have a possible date for the initial release of China Rising, the first DLC for upcoming first-person shooter Battlefield 4, as well as a tantalizing new tidbit.
A newly discovered screencap shows that China Rising is coming December 3 of this year, and will be free to all Premium members. Presumably, players who don’t have Premium accounts but preordered the game will get it two weeks later.
There is very little know about China Rising for now, but we do know it will have four new multiplayer maps, as well as new vehicles and equipment. Observant fans have been trying to gleam details from the cover image as well. So, based on his Calico Jack patch, for example, we know the soldier running in the cover is a Navy Seal. The tank to his right is believed to be a Type 96G, and the aircraft looming ominously above is likely a Xian H-6K bomber.
With Second Assault announced as available for Xbox One buyers exclusively at launch, we also already know that China Rising is no longer the first DLC to come out for the game. Perhaps this is the reason DICE has been reticent in sharing more details.
With China Rising as the first potential multiplatform DLC, DICE will have to impress a broader range of their fanbase, and they may be ready, but not to show all their cards yet. Battlefield 4 will be released this coming October 29 for Playstation 3, Xbox 360, Windows, Playstation 4, and Xbox One.
